Robert L. Bayless, Jr., Executive Manager

Before founding the company with his father in 1999, Mr. Bayless was a production and development engineer for Amoco Production and then chief engineer for two smaller, independent oil and gas companies. Mr. Bayless received a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. He is a registered Professional Engineer and has served on the board of directors of the Western Energy Alliance and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

Kevin H. McCord, Lead Manager

Mr. McCord has more than 30 years of oil and gas industry experience. Before assuming his role as Operational Manager in January, 2001, he was a business owner actively involved in oil and gas operations in the San Juan Basin, NM, working closely with the Bayless Companies for 30 years. Mr. McCord is a registered Professional Engineer, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association and is a past president of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico. Mr. McCord holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Lee W. Joslyn, Vice President - Finance

Mr. Joslyn is responsible for all the company’s accounting, financial reporting and administrative functions. Prior to re-entering the oil and gas business, Mr. Joslyn spent ten years as Chief Financial Officer of an Energy Management subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company. In the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Mr. Joslyn held CFO and Controller positions with publicly traded oil and gas companies, and started his career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen. Mr. Joslyn graduated from Colorado State University in 1977 with a BS in Business Administration and passed the Colorado CPA exam in 1979.

Matthew R. Silverman – Exploration Manager

Mr. Silverman has over 35 years of oil and gas industry experience and currently leads the company’s exploration efforts in the United States and Australia. Prior to joining the company in 2002, Mr. Silverman worked for Total, Texas Gas Exploration and Gustavson Associates. Mr. Silverman received an AB from Brown University and an MS in Geological Sciences from the University of Colorado.  He is widely published on a variety of geological and petroleum-history topics, and the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists granted him Honorary Membership, its highest award, in 1999.

Price M. “Tucker” Bayless, Senior Advisor

Mr. Bayless is responsible for the daily operations of drilling, completing, and producing oil and gas wells operated by the company. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Bayless ran a contract drilling company for 20 years, operating 3 completion rigs and 4 drilling rigs working primarily in the Four Corners area at depths of 2,000 ft to 12,000 ft. Prior to that he was an Operations Engineer with Atlantic Richfield Company for 2 years, working in the Permian Basin and Gulf Coast Louisiana. Mr. Bayless graduated from University of New Mexico in 1975 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, followed by Basic Reservoir Engineering training with Arco.

John D. Thomas, Production and Asset Manager

Mr. Thomas began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2005 and currently manages operated production for Robert L. Bayless, Producer LLC.  Before joining the company in 2008, he was an Engineer for Haliburton Energy Services.  Mr. Thomas received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from the University of Florida.  He is a former Chairperson for the Four Corners Society of Petroleum Engineers and serves as the North West Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico.

Cranford D. Newell, Jr., Land Manager

Mr. Newell began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2008 and currently manages the land department at Robert L. Bayless, Producer LLC. He previously worked at Berry Petroleum and Nadel and Gussman before joining the Bayless team in 2012. Mr. Newell received a BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MBA from the University of Denver. He is an active member of both DAPL and AAPL and serves on several committees for both associations while also receiving his CPL designation in 2015.
